  • SIX TRAITS OF INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP & COMMITMENT

    The day was based on Deloitte's Inclusive Leadership Framework, allowing participants to gain critical insights, practical tools, and strategies for building inclusive organizations, leading diverse teams, and serving clients and customers more effectively. 

    Andrea’s presentation offered a compelling case for integrating the Six Signature Traits of Inclusive Leadership.

    Andrea wrapped up the day talking about commitment by inviting leaders to write down what they are committed to starting or stopping to become a more inclusive leader. To drive change, she challenged the group to write the actions they will take using a 5-5-5 tool.

    The day ended with concrete goals by answering, What will I commit to do in 5 days, 5 weeks, and 5 months?

    BUILDING INTERNAL COMPETENCIES TO CREATE CONSUMER-FACING SUCCESS.

    Andrew and the team at Conner Prairie started with an internal focus to equip the staff with a baseline understanding of our shared past before launching any customer-facing initiatives. Together, this non-profit, with a history of exclusionary practices, secured more than $2M in private capital to create cultural competencies focused on DEAI (Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion) and developed the untold stories of our collective history.

    In today's workplace, diversity is key. Curiosity, in particular, is a vital quality for effective leadership, driving personal growth, sparking innovation, and equipping leaders with a greater understanding of their team's viewpoints. As the workplace continues to evolve, acknowledging and understanding the multifaceted nature of individuals is crucial.

    Andrew focused on helping participants better understand what unconscious bias is and how to become more cognizant of bias so we can foster more inclusive work environments. He reviewed tools that help disrupt workplace bias.

    DISCOVERING COURAGE IN SMALL SPACES

    We relegate courage to grandiose narratives, which are rarely the stuff of everyday business lives. In truth, courage resides in the smaller moments and decisions, creating a groundswell that propels our coworkers and businesses forward into a rapidly changing and uncertain world.

    Emma explored what those small-moment decisions look like, how they can challenge us, and the benefits (from both a personal and business perspective) of moving forward courageously.

    Amy asked participants to answer the question, Is your professional network as diverse as the workforce and community around you? If not, she shared how you could be missing important opportunities for your career and your company. She unpacked the challenges we all face in making meaningful connections, the impacts of these missed connections, and how to recognize and overcome them.

    This session helped uncover and remove artificial barriers that may be keeping you from your next mentor, star hire, or big customer.
